The Wicker Straw Artisan Tradition

At Emporio MP, we celebrate the beauty of handcrafted items and the elegance born from artisan tradition. In some of our creations, we use wicker straw, an ancestral weaving technique that transforms natural fibers into true works of art.

Wicker: the art of weaving

The term "Wicker" does not refer to a single fiber, but to a manual weaving technique used to shape different materials. Among the most commonly used natural fibers are wicker, rattan, bamboo, cane, and rush.

Each piece is produced by hand: the fibers are first harvested, treated, and softened to ensure flexibility, and then manually woven by experienced artisans, forming solid, light, and durable structures. The shaping is done over structural molds, made of wood or metal, which define the final shape of the bag. After the weaving, the piece receives finishes such as linings, handles, clasps, and details in leather or precious metals.

The result is bags that combine strength, lightness, and sophistication, with a timeless design that carries the soul of manual work in every detail. Ideal for those who seek style with authenticity and a connection to nature.

Buntal Straw

Harvested from the leaves of the Buri palm, Buntal straw reveals fine, durable fibers, handcrafted with artisanal skill. Its light touch and delicate texture bring to life pieces that embody natural beauty and tropical charm.
